Shortage of components, Hyundai sales dropped to less than 4,300 cars sold in June 2022

With 4,278 Hyundai cars sold in June 2022, this was recorded as the lowest sales volume in the past 3 years for the Korean car company in Vietnam.

TC Motor has just announced Hyundai sales results in June 2022 with 4,278 cars sold in the entire market, this sales level decreased by 34% compared to the previous May. More specifically, Hyundai’s best-selling car model is the Accent sedan, with only 1,086 cars sold, down 40.5% compared to the previous month.

The A-class car model Hyundai Grand i10 also saw sales decrease from 999 cars to 435 cars in June 2022. Newly launched rookie Hyundai Creta also had a decrease but quite slightly from 935 cars to 830 cars. Hyundai Kona also temporarily stopped distribution due to problems with the supply chain of parts and accessories, so no cars were sold this month.

Although the Hyundai Tucson CUV model has been launched for a while, the problem of lack of spare parts is not out of the question when there were only 479 cars sold in June, the Hyundai SantaFe model is similar with 434 cars sold. Particularly, the Hyundai Elantra model has the lowest sales with only 16 vehicles sold, other commercial vehicle models also achieved sales of 998 vehicles.

The shortage of components is currently a headache for car manufacturers today, mainly due to the semiconductor crisis and chip shortage that have not yet been resolved on a global scale, and also due to the impact from negative developments of the Covid-19 epidemic situation and politics in some areas. The production activities of Hyundai Thanh Cong factory only meet a small part of actual customer needs.

According to sales data, in the first half of 2022, 36,397 Hyundai cars were delivered to users, this number achieved a growth of more than 6.5% compared to the same period last year. During a meeting, a Hyundai representative also shared that he would try to stabilize the supply of spare parts and components to ensure a more complete number of vehicles sold.
