Another class A car stopped distributing in the Vietnamese market for an unexpected reason

According to many unconfirmed information, Honda Brio will temporarily stop distribution in the Vietnamese market because the vehicle’s emission standards do not meet the new standards.

Specifically, some information indicates that in the near future, Honda Brio will temporarily stop distribution in the Vietnamese auto market. The reason is that according to the provisions of Decision No. 49/2011/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister, all new cars are required to meet level 5 emission standards (Euro 5) from January 1. January 2022. Therefore, Honda Brio only meets Euro 4. If it brings back a version that meets Euro 5, the selling price of the car will increase, making it difficult to compete with competitors in the same segment.

There is still no official information from the company, Honda Brio is currently continuing to sell until sold out. Previously, the Japanese car company launched a program to support 100% of registration fees for this car model to clear the warehouse.

If they withdraw from the market, the A-class car segment in Vietnam will only have two names left, including Hyundai Grand i10 and KIA Morning. The VinFast Fadil model is currently only in return status and is not accepting new car contracts. Toyota Wigo is still unclear about the situation as it had zero sales in June.

Honda Brio has been present in Vietnam for about 3 years since its launch in 2019. The A-class car model is highly appreciated for its design and interior space along with the RS version with many details painted in dark colors. create a sporty look such as the radiator grille, body brace, rear bumper, spoiler, etc.

Despite its sporty body, the interior is quite basic with some highlights such as a 6.2-inch screen that supports Apple Carplay, 6 speakers with orange details to create contrast. Although the price is quite high compared to competitors, Honda Brio only has felt seats, manual adjustment, and mechanical key.

In terms of operation, the car uses a 1.2L engine with a capacity of 89 horsepower, 110 Nm, front-wheel drive combined with a CVT continuously variable transmission. Honda Brio also only has basic safety equipment with ABS, EBD, BA braking system and 2 airbag system.
