Hyundai has a second factory in Vietnam and has many plans for electric vehicles

In order to meet year-end shopping needs as well as plans for electric vehicles, Hyundai Thanh Cong has put factory No. 2 into operation.

Hyundai Thanh Cong Vietnam Factory No. 2 is located in Ninh Binh province, built on a total area of more than 50 hectares, factory area of 87,000m2, test track length of 1,503m, with a total design capacity of 100,000 vehicles. /year, combined with factory No. 1 will bring the total capacity of Hyundai vehicles shipped to 180,000 vehicles/year, meeting domestic demand as well as targeting other markets in the region.

When put into operation, factory No. 2 will help reduce the load on Factory No. 1, which is currently working 3 consecutive shifts and has exceeded its design capacity of 65,000 vehicles/year. According to the plan, this factory will assemble existing passenger car models of Hyundai Thanh Cong and in the future will be Hyundai Creta and Hyundai Stargazer models – MPV models just launched not long ago.

Notably, the welding workshop is equipped with welding equipment from Obara and welding robots from Hyundai Robotic. The welding line is designed as an integrated module for many vehicle models, optimizing the factory area and welding equipment. At the body frame assembly station, the robot has the ability to change fixtures to suit each vehicle model.

The body moving line is designed with a 3-axis robot that can be changed to suit the profile and size of each vehicle model. The vehicle frame production station is also equipped and used entirely by robots, helping to increase the automation rate in production and increase accuracy.

The paint workshop equipment line is designed by KOTEC Korea, which has extensive experience in the field of building automobile factories around the world. The line applies the 3C1B painting method – 3 layers of paint with 1 drying time to save energy, materials, and reduce emissions into the environment.

The assembly line is automated by Hyundai Robotic robots at some stages to increase accuracy and ensure quality. The assembly line system uses modern equipment from VPK and Jeill, from torque tightening equipment to control tightening force to solution pumping equipment to control flow to ensure compliance with standards and easy analysis and analysis. data management.

In addition, each vehicle is controlled by a QR code and a vehicle inspection line capable of detecting errors and adjusting and resetting with the highest accuracy. The entire production and quality control data system is managed in real time, connected to Hyundai’s global quality control system, to ensure the quality of cars produced at HTMV2 is similar. equivalent to any other Hyundai car factory in the world.

In addition to the inauguration of factory No. 2, this is also a long-term strategy of Thanh Cong and Hyundai Motor Company joint venture in penetrating the electric vehicle market. In the near future, this factory will assemble the SantaFe Hybrid SUV and the Ioniq 5 electric car.

Chairman of TC Group Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan shared: This is a very important event, a new step in improving production capacity and supply of Hyundai cars, meeting increasing demand. and market diversity, contributing to realizing the common development strategy of the two corporations, continuing to contribute more to the development of Vietnam’s automobile industry as well as socio-economic development. local and national associations.
