Honda BR-V launched in the Philippines, priced from 470 million VND: Veloz’s ‘rival’, Xpander may return to Vietnam

The most advanced version of Honda BR-V 2023 costs 600 million VND with a series of amenities and safety technology that may make it difficult for Xpander to return to Vietnam.

Recently, Honda BR-V 2023 has been launched in the Philippine market. This MPV model has 4 versions sold, including 1.5S MT, 1.5S CVT, 1.5V CVT and 1.5VX CVT. The selling prices converted from Philippine Peso of these four versions are 470 million, 496 million, 558 and 600 million VND respectively. Compared to its predecessor, the 2023 BR-V has a Honda Sensing support package and more amenities.

In terms of size, the Honda BR-V 2023 has a length of 4,490 mm, a width of 1,780 mm and a height of 1,685 mm (1.5S MT version is 1,651 mm high). In the new generation, Honda BR-V is 34 mm longer, 45 mm wider and 8 mm taller. On the other hand, the wheelbase has been extended to 2700mm, an increase of 38mm compared to the old model. Ground clearance also increased by 6 mm, reaching 207 mm.

Compared to competitors in the segment, the Honda BR-V 2023 has a design quite similar to the Suzuki XL-7 or Kia Carens when using an MPV hybrid SUV style. The front of the car has a Civic-inspired LED light cluster, accompanied by an extended chrome bar on the steering wheel. Sporty air vents with integrated fog lights.

The rear of the car changes even more when using LED taillights combined with halogen with a fancy interface. The rear bumper is ribbed but doesn’t really make much of an impression. In general, many users have associated the Honda BR-V 2023 with the longer but more “gentle” Honda HR-V 2022. The car is equipped with 16-inch wheels in the standard version and 17-inch wheels in the remaining versions.

The interior of the Honda BR-V 2023 has a somewhat more cumbersome design than the simpler design language being applied on the latest Civic, CR-V or Pilot models. Standard leather seats in the high-end version, only the S version uses felt seats. Similarly, the standard version only has mechanical air conditioning.

Some other standard equipment on the MPV model that “rivals” the Toyota Veloz Cross is a 4.2-inch TFT screen behind the steering wheel, a 7-inch central touch screen, Bluetooth and USD connectivity and Apple CarPlay/Android. Auto, 4-speaker sound system in the S/V version and upgraded to 6 speakers in the most advanced version.

Powering the Honda BR-V 2023 is a 1.5L DOHC i-VTEC 4-cylinder engine, producing a maximum capacity of 119 horsepower and 145 Nm of maximum torque. Combined with this engine is a 6-speed manual transmission on the standard S version and a CVT automatic transmission on the remaining three versions. Similar to competitors in the segment, the car uses a front-wheel drive system.

The vehicle’s standard safety technology includes ABS/EBD brake support system, electronic balance system, hill start assist, reversing camera, etc. The most advanced VX version has an additional Honda Sensing support package with Some technologies such as Cruise Control, remote car start, automatic adaptive headlights, collision mitigation braking system, deviation warning and lane keeping assist,…

With the selling price in the Philippines as above, expected Honda BR-V 2023 will cost no less than 500 million if opened for sale in the Vietnamese market. The most advanced version of BR-V will most likely cost about 700 million VND. The competitors that this car model must compete with are quite numerous in our country, including Mitsubishi Xpander, Toyota Veloz, Suzuki XL7, Suzuki Ertiga, Hyundai Stargazer and most recently Kia Carens.
