Cheap hybrid supercar in Vietnam – McLaren Artura – was recalled because of the risk of causing fire

McLaren Artura is being recalled due to problems related to high-pressure fuel pipes that can cause the supercar to catch fire.

McLaren’s newly appointed CEO – Mr. Michael Leiters – ordered Artura deliveries to customers to be stopped a few months ago to fix quality problems. However, the consequences of this hybrid supercar model are still negatively impacting the British car company when the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued a recall order for this supercar. There are no less than 164 vehicles that may have this problem and need to go to the dealer to fix the technical problem.

The problem stems from the nuts used for the high-pressure fuel line. Over time, these parts can loosen, leading to fuel leaks. In the worst case, a fire will break out, endangering property and the lives of people around.

Of the 164 recalled cars, McLaren spokesman Roger Ormisher told Automotive News that less than 50 were actually delivered to customers. Most of the affected vehicles are media/event vehicles or are currently being used as demos at dealerships in the United States. To fix the problem, the high-pressure fuel hoses will have to be replaced. And of course, the repair work will be done free of charge.

In early December, McLaren CEO Michael Leiters admitted that underdeveloped products had been brought to market in the past, but no longer were: “We see that the car (Artura) was not complete, so we stopped deliveries. We had a significant delay in our production line at that time and we reduced (production) to zero (cars) per day to fix our quality issues .”

The McLaren Artura was first introduced to the global market in February 2021 and has since spawned two other track-only variants, the GT4 and Trophy. The second variant will hit the track next year in the McLaren Trophy Championship.

In Viet Nam, McLaren Artura Genuinely distributed at extremely impressive prices starting from only 14.7 billion VND. The car has a lightweight carbon fiber frame structure and luxurious cabin space. The 3.0L turbocharged V6 engine combined with an electric motor gives the total capacity of this supercar up to 680 horsepower, capable of accelerating 0-100 km/h in 3 seconds.
