Vietnamese people buy nearly 6 motorbikes every minute, buying more than 3.32 million new motorbikes all year

Accumulated after 12 months of 2022, domestic motorbike output in the Vietnamese market is estimated to reach more than 3.32 million vehicles, an increase of nearly 10% compared to 2021.

According to the latest report of the Vietnam Association of Motorcycle Manufacturers (VAMM), in the fourth quarter of 2022, members’ sales reached 831,999 vehicles, an increase of 9.98% over the same period in 2021.

Thus, every day in 2022, Vietnamese people will buy more than 8,200 motorbikes. Every minute that passes, the Vietnamese market consumes nearly 6 new motorbikes.

2022 marks the first time after 3 years that the Vietnamese motorbike market has positive growth. People’s shopping demand showing signs of increasing again is said to be one of the main reasons leading to positive sales results of the Vietnamese motorbike market in 2022. Besides, the production capacity of Domestic motorbike assembly lines also contributed to a sharp increase in motorbike sales last year.

According to CafeAuto For reference, this is the 5th year in 7 years that the Vietnamese motorbike market has surpassed the sales milestone of 3 million vehicles. Previously, the motorbike market in Vietnam reached a consumption level of over 3 million units in the period 2016 to 2019 with a figure of nearly 3.4 million units recorded in 2018.

In its report, VAMM noted that the cumulative sales mentioned above only record the total sales of 5 VAMM members in the Vietnamese market, not the production number and do not include export numbers.

The five VAMM members include Honda Vietnam, Piaggio Vietnam, Suzuki Vietnam, SYM Vietnam and Yamaha Motor Vietnam.
