Maserati Grecale officially launched, competing directly with Porsche Macan

Maserati officially launched its second SUV model called Grecale with three versions, competing with Jaguar F-Pace, BMW X3 and Porsche Macan.

Masearti Grecale is the second SUV model of the Italian sports car brand after its elder brother Levante. This SUV is positioned in the segment below the Levante with a smaller overall size, at 4,859 mm x 1,979 mm x 1,659 mm (length x width x height) and a wheelbase of 2,901 mm.

At the initial time of sale, the car will have three main configurations including GT, Modena and Trofeo, along with a special PrimaSerie version similar to the “Launch Edition”. The GT and Modena versions are equipped with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, generating 325 horsepower in the Modena version and 296 horsepower in the GT version and 450 Nm of torque. Power is supported by mild hybrid technology with a 48V battery, electric starter and electric compressor.

With this power, the Grecale GT can accelerate to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds while the Modena version takes 5.3 seconds to do the same. Both have a maximum speed limited to 240 km/h.

Grecale’s high-performance Trofeo version is equipped with a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine with a maximum capacity of 523 horsepower and 620 Nm. This power helps the car accelerate to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds and reach a maximum speed of 285 km/h. Grecale’s V6 engine is designed to be more fuel efficient than the similar engine on the Maserati MC20 with automatic cylinder shut-off technology, wet lubrication system and dual ignition technology still available.

On the exterior, the Maserati Grecale has a more streamlined and modern design than the 5-year-old Levante model. The headlights are designed to be small similar to the MC20 while on the rear, the taillights still have a new slim LED strip inspired by the Giugiaro 3200 GT. The Trofeo version is equipped with Brembo brakes, along with a completely new Trofeo driving mode. The suspension system has also been redesigned with 6 different modes.

Inside, the Maserati Grecale’s cockpit has a modern design with three separate screens. The steering wheel uses a three-spoke steering wheel with a similar design to the MC20 but has more feature buttons. The entertainment screen is 12.3 inches in size and is supported by an 8.8-inch secondary screen below.

The car is equipped with standard features such as Apple CarPlay connection, wireless Android Auto, wireless phone charging, smart driver assistance system, etc. More advanced options include the Sonus Faber 21 sound system. speaker, 1,200 W capacity and electronic central clock.

Maserati Grecale GT, Modena, Trofeo will start being sold in Europe this year with the 2022 model year.
