Lamborghini will launch an upgraded version of the Urus in August

The Lamborghini Urus super SUV has been on the market for nearly 5 years and it’s time for the Italian supercar company to replace the current model with a newer version.

The mid-life upgraded version of the Lamborghini Urus is often spotted testing everywhere in Europe, on both racetracks and public streets. According to the CEO of Lamborghini, Mr. Stephan Winkelmann, the car model being tested recently will be launched in August.

In an interview with Quattroroute magazine, Mr. Winkelmann said there will be four Lamborghini supercar models launched this year. Two of them belong to the Huracan product line and the remaining two are Urus SUV models. The first new Lamborghini will be introduced in mid-April and is expected to be a shortened high-performance version of the Huracan STO.

Meanwhile, Lamborghini will launch the upgraded Urus mid-life version at a major event, the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, taking place on August 21 and during the Monterey supercar week. This is one of the largest luxury car and supercar events of the year, lasting a week with the participation of a series of famous car manufacturers with models from ancient times to modern times on display to the public.

In this mid-life upgrade, Lamborghini will divide the Urus into two different configurations, one targeting the customer segment focusing on experiencing sports performance and the other focusing on customers who want a luxury Lamborghini. important. Both will have different looks, exterior equipment and options from the other models.

In addition to sharing about the four upcoming supercar models, Mr. Stephan Winkelmann also said that Lamborghini is investing in developing self-driving technology. The company wants its supercars to achieve level 4 autonomy by the end of this decade. At this level, cars can operate autonomously without driver intervention both in and out of the city. This technology will be equipped on the 2nd generation Urus or the company’s 4th parallel commercial Snar model.

Regarding that model, Winkelmann said the car has not yet been completely “green lighted”. If approved, it will be a high-clearance car with a 2+2 coupe design, using a battery-powered electric motor. “It will be a completely new car: the fourth parallel production model. We have been absent from the 2+2 Coupe segment for quite a long time, the car has a high chassis and large ground clearance,” said Mr. Winkelmann added.

Currently, Lamborghini Urus is Lamborghini’s best-selling car model with total sales at this time exceeding the 15,000 mark. The car is currently equipped with a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine with a capacity of 641 horsepower, accompanied by an 8-speed ZF transmission that gives the car the ability to accelerate to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds. Maximum speed reaches 305 km/h. This super SUV model has a starting price of over 200,000 USD.
