Ferrari 296 GTS convertible hybrid supercar debuted to the world with 810 horsepower

Nearly a year after Ferrari introduced the 296 GTB hybrid supercar, the convertible version with an electric folding roof of this model was introduced by the “prancing horse” with the name Ferrari 296 GTS.

The biggest difference between the Ferrari 296 GTS (Gran Turismo Spider) and the Coupe 296 GTB is that the electric folding hard roof can be stowed in the rear compartment with just the push of a button. The roof opening/closing process is completed in just 14 seconds and can be performed at speeds of up to 45 km/h.

On the Ferrari 296 GTS, the Italian supercar brand has redesigned the chassis as well as the area behind the cockpit to accommodate a fold-down roof as well as opening and closing mechanisms. This causes the car’s weight to increase by 70 kg compared to the GTB hardtop version. If equipped with the optional Assetto Fiorano upgrade package, the vehicle weight will be reduced to 1,540 kg.

Like the hardtop version, the Ferrari 296 GTS is still equipped with a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine with the ability to produce a maximum capacity of 663 horsepower. This power is supported by an electric motor, increasing the vehicle’s total capacity to 810 horsepower and 740 Nm of torque. This power is transmitted to the rear wheels through an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission, thanks to which the car can accelerate to 100 km/h from a stationary position in just 2.9 seconds and reach a maximum speed of 330 km. /H.

The car’s electric motor is powered by a 7.45 kWh battery pack, allowing the convertible supercar to travel a distance of 25 km in full electric mode. In this mode, the car can reach a maximum speed of 135 km/h.

The Ferrari 296 GTS has length × width × height dimensions of 4,565 × 1,958 × 1,187 mm, similar to the hardtop version. The front of the car has two large air vents and a pillar placed in the middle, but the lines are more rounded than the SF90. The rear of the car has an exhaust system placed in the middle and a taillight cluster with LED strips quite similar to the Roma model, accompanied by an aggressive diffuser.

The interior has a sporty style, combining two tones of black and red similar to the exterior. The design on the Ferrari 296 GTS is quite similar to the SF90 Stradale model, from the design of the air conditioning vents, gearbox to the center console.

When equipped with the Assetto Fiorano package, the Ferrari 296 GTS will have additional upgraded equipment such as an adjustable suspension system provided by Multimatic, fine-tuned to suit the racetrack. The car’s front bumper has a spoiler made of carbon fiber. Inside, the door compartment is made of carbon fiber, thereby helping the car reduce weight by 8 kg. This upgrade package also brings a set of racing stamps inspired by the Ferrari 250 LM.
