Domestic motorbikes exceeded the milestone of 2 million vehicles sold in the first 8 months of 2023

In the first 8 months of the year, a total of 2.04 million motorbikes were produced and brought to market by domestic enterprises.

According to statistical reports, the total number of new motorbikes shipped in the Vietnamese market in the first 8 months of the year was 2.04 million units. Although it has exceeded the 2 million mark, this output is only 92.6% compared to the same period in 2022.

According to the report of the General Statistics Office just released today (August 29), in August, the country produced an estimated 228,800 new motorbikes, a slight decrease of 0.8% compared to July (with 230,600 units) and decreased by 18.9% compared to the same period in August 2022.

This is the third consecutive month that the number of domestically produced motorbikes has tended to decrease slightly, since the peak in May with 291,600 units shipped. Accumulated in the first 8 months of 2023, the total number of new motorbikes produced in Vietnam is 2,040,000 units, down 7.4% compared to the same period in 2022.

Besides, according to the Vietnam Association of Motorcycle Manufacturers (VAMM), in the whole year of 2022, sales of VAMM members reached 3,003,160 vehicles, an increase of 20.49% compared to 2021.

VAMM members include 5 units: Honda Vietnam Company (manufacturing and distributing 29 products), Yamaha Motor Vietnam (19 products), SYM Vietnam (19 products), Suzuki Vietnam (17 products). products) and Piaggio Vietnam Company (10 products).

Currently, there are many businesses that also produce many electric motorbike products such as VinFast, Pega, Yadea, Detech,… however these units are not yet members of VAMM.
