At the end of the year, foreign cars were imported massively to Vietnam

According to reports and statistics, in October 2023, there was an increase of nearly 2,200 complete cars imported to Vietnam, equivalent to about 30% compared to the previous month.

The General Department of Customs said that there were 9,600 imported complete vehicles in October, thereby reaching a value of nearly 255 million dollars. Cars imported from 4 main markets include Thailand with 4,580 units, Indonesia with 3,200 units, China with nearly 800 units and Japan with more than 520 units.

In particular, vehicles with 9 seats or less increased sharply with about 8,220 vehicles, up 32.6% compared to the previous month. Accounting for the strongest percentage increase is transport cars with more than 900 vehicles, equivalent to nearly 40 million USD, up 47.2% in volume and up 40.2% in value compared to the previous month.


Meanwhile, there are only 4 cars with over 9 seats and specialized cars only about 490 cars, down 20.8% compared to the previous month. By the end of October, the number of complete cars of all types imported to Vietnam reached about 103,800 units, down 19.4% over the same period last year, with a value of nearly 2.5 billion dollars.

According to preliminary statistics from the General Department of Customs, in October, Vietnam spent 392 million USD to import auto components and spare parts, an increase of 20.5% compared to the previous month. From the beginning of the year until now, the import value of auto components and spare parts is 3.3 billion USD, down 31% over the same period last year.
