Vespa Primavera – Not for the masses

Sophisticated beauty, smooth operation, and many amenities, the Vespa Primavera deserves many compliments, but the reason why the model is considered “a new spring for the Vespa line” is not accessible to the majority of people. Vietnamese consumption is the price of 69 million VND.

The embodiment of style

Talking about the design of the Vespa Primavera model, we will probably have to use a lot of beautiful words to describe the delicate, Italian beauty of this vehicle. Primavera still owns the main design throughout nearly 70 years of Vespa’s history. Inheriting the modern design details of Vespa 946 – the most expensive scooter model in the world, Primavera embodies as a car of fashion and style.

The most obvious “borrowing” from the 946 model is the impressive mask. If on Vespa LX 3v ie, Piaggio designed the mask to look a bit like a tie, then on Primavera that tie is widened at the bottom, looking quite sharp and healthy. The Piaggio logo is located in the middle, extending and extending downwards to a chrome-plated horn cavity, stylized to create a sense of elegance for the front of the car. The headlight cluster is more stylized than the Vespa LX version, plated with chrome edges with halogen bulb lights with integrated passing function (flashing light to pass). On both sides are two turn signal light clusters, integrated with refined LED positioning lights, more consistent with the overall design.

The Primavera’s dashboard has also been completely redesigned to include a mechanical display, and an LCD screen with integrated trip measurement modes (trip A, trip B, number of kilometers traveled, fuel amount, time). …). Completely new button system, completely different from Vespa LX.

Primavera has been improved by the Italian automaker’s storage capacity in the front and rear trunks. The addition of shields helps the front trunk take the form of a tray so things won’t fall out when opening the trunk. Meanwhile, the underseat storage compartment is up to 16.6 liters large, and can comfortably fit two half-face helmets because the underseat battery has been placed on the footrest. However, Piaggio seems to be quite conservative in keeping the Primavera loyal to opening the trunk with a hip key instead of a button like the Vespa GTS.

Oriented for women, the saddle height at the driver’s position is relatively low, and the saddle design is quite close to Vespa’s GT model. Accordingly, the surface gives a lot of priority to the front passenger. It is not flat like the LX generation but has a slightly raised part at the nose of the seat but is narrow and gentle on both sides. The length of the saddle is also improved by 50mm compared to the LX to make the rear seat more comfortable.

The body of the Primavera is designed gradually towards the rear, a style that leans toward the legendary bee body design, instead of the chubby look on the Vespa LX. However, it seems that Primavera Vietnam has omitted LED lights for the rear lights and used traditional Halogen incandescent lights, perhaps for the purpose of cutting costs. In the European version, you will see small shadows very clearly, while the Vietnamese version has a large shadow.

A comfortable scooter

Primavera uses an advanced 3-valve engine block (2 intake valves, 1 exhaust valve), two optional versions of 125 and 150 cc. The 3V engine on the Primavera is air-cooled, integrating ie electronic fuel injection technology for a maximum capacity of 9.7 horsepower at 7,750 rpm (125cc) and 11.7 horsepower at the rpm threshold. rewind 7,500 rpm.

Using the same 3V engine block as on the Vespa LX, Vespa S or LXV models makes the Primavera operate smoothly. The engine and exhaust sounds are softer and more pleasant, giving the feeling of a durable, fuel-efficient engine. When operating on the street, even though driving slowly, Primavera no longer jerks, causing vibrations on the front of the vehicle.

The Italian car company said it has made major improvements in the transmission structure, suspension and engine components, reducing vibration by up to 40% compared to the previous generation. This is possible thanks to the engine being attached to the car body with a special swing arm that can move in two directions (compared to the one-way mechanism on previous generation cars). Dual-action sound absorber blocks help reduce vibration at points of contact with the driver such as footrests, saddle, front end and handlebars. Thanks to that, operating Primavera is now easier and more flexible.

Vespa Primavera does not benefit much in terms of acceleration on the spot, however, once rolling and gaining momentum, Primavera accelerates very quickly. The throttle feels light and smooth even at low speeds, without causing engine jerking and jerking like on the Vespa LX model. This is also Piaggio’s effort to create a more economical and comfortable vehicle model for areas that are strongly developing motorbikes such as Vietnam and other countries in the Asian region.

Terrain testing on bad, rough, uneven roads shows that the car’s suspension system is stiff. It is known that Piaggio has increased the wheel rim diameter from 10 inches to 11 inches and used a new shock absorber system, but the suspension is still not really smooth. The reason may partly lie in the single-sided suspension system of Vespa in general.

Piaggio Vietnam affirms that Primavera can travel 64 km at a speed of 50 km/h with only 1 liter of gasoline – equivalent to 1.56 L/100km. Previously, the 3V engine installed on the LX consumed 1.82L/100km. Confident in the quality of the engine as well as the product, this company also announced a warranty period of up to 3 years or 30,000 km for the new Vespa Primavera model.

Vespa Primavera – Not for the masses 1 autodaily primavera ngoaithat (1).jpgVespa Primavera is officially distributed at a price of 68.8 million VND

Currently, Vespa Primavera is officially distributed with 5 basic colors including: white, black, red, blue and sky blue with a price of 68.8 million VND, about 2 million VND more expensive than Vespa LX.

It can be immediately affirmed that, with a price of about 69 million VND, Primavera is not for everyone. Piaggio puts the car in the mini-scooter segment with its strategic customers being women, and indeed the car is not very suitable for men.

Even though the performance features have been improved and the appearance is impeccable, the model considered “new spring for the Vespa line” cannot reach the majority of Vietnamese consumers because the price is quite high when this is just a Small scooter model.
