Initial impressions of the Kawasaki Ninja 1000

Recently, Kawasaki has continuously launched new products and they are quite successful in their segment. In mid-February, they launched the new Kawasaki Ninja 1000 model on the market as a powerful affirmation of their position as a giant in the large displacement sports car market.

Surprisingly, the Kawasaki Ninja 1000 and their recently released product, the Ninja ZX-10R, have quite a few similarities. Both of these cars cost approximately 21,000 USD and are equipped with a 1043cc in-line 4-cylinder engine, maximum capacity of 143 horsepower, maximum torque of 111Nm.

At this point, everyone is certainly wondering, why does Kawasaki continuously launch two similar products in the same price segment? Is this step a mistake? The answer is that the Ninja 1000 is a completely different product from the ZX-10R in terms of design and purpose of use.

Ninja 1000 is a product for customers who love sports cars but need to move a lot in the city. With a neat design that has cut out some details, the Ninja 1000 becomes elegant and light but still has a sporty style. According to the current development trend of the world market, cars with designs like the Ninja 1000 are being very well received. That is the reasonable answer for Kawasaki’s actions.

Although aiming for a different design style, Kawasaki does not want the Ninja 1000 to be too out of place in the “big Ninja family”. They tried to give it a light yet powerful look. The high front screen and double headlight system help the Ninja 1000 still look masculine. Four exhaust pipes are divided into 2 systems arranged along both sides of the vehicle’s body, making the Ninja 1000 fatter, like a true sports “athlete”. In addition, the 2 mirrors that come with the same mounting position will bring a luxurious feeling when looking at the Ninja 1000 directly from the front.

Besides the beauty of the design, the power of the 1043cc engine block is more than enough for the Ninja 1000 to conquer any road. Thanks to the upgraded transmission system, the regulation and spread of torque feels smooth. The six-speed gearbox operates quite smoothly when shifting, making the Ninja 1000 flow like a flood. With just one turn of the throttle, a few seconds later you will reach a speed of 100km/h. Meanwhile, the exhaust roars with attractive, hoarse sounds. The most enjoyable feeling when driving the Ninja 1000 is that you don’t need to spend too much effort to control its power.

Regarding the driving system, the Ninja 1000 has been upgraded by the manufacturer with some additional amenities. These utilities help the driver choose a lower power mode but still enough for the engine power to reach the level you desire. Even in this mode, the driver does not feel too bored because the car still reaches 70% of the entire engine’s power. You can adjust via three levels of traction control (KTRC). In mode 3, the traction is the least and the engine will gradually accelerate as you move through modes 2 and 1. Even when moving in mode 1, KTRC will monitor the process. Your movements to adjust yourself give you the best control of your vehicle.

You cannot turn off the ABS system on the Kawasaki Ninja 1000, but this provides a feeling of safety throughout the journey. There is no feeling of brake slippage on any terrain, even on wet roads or on gravel roads. The front 300mm double disc brake system provides excellent braking feel, not too sudden or jerky. Even in an emergency braking situation, you only need to use your index finger, very gently to apply the brake.

Thanks to its more elegant design than its brothers in the Ninja family, the Ninja 1000 is quite suitable for usage conditions in the Vietnamese market. Light weight, small turning radius, so moving on narrow, crowded roads is not too difficult. In addition, with a fuel consumption of about 17km/liter and a fuel tank capacity of 19 liters, the Ninja 1000 can travel continuously for 300km, which is quite a reasonable number for a sports car like the Ninja 1000. .

Thus, the birth of the Ninja 1000 is a necessary addition to Kawasaki’s Ninja family. With no direct competitors in the Indian domestic market and quite new in the world market, the Ninja 1000 deserves to be the trump card for Kawasaki in 2014.
