Go to Tam Dao to “test your skills” on the Suzuki Axelo 125

After the day trip from Hanoi – Tam Dao, the Suzuki Axelo really surprised me because even when moving in the city, on the highway or in mountainous terrain, the car performed its role well. .

At first sight, what I found most impressive was the front air intake inspired by the famous Hayabusa superbike. The sharp nose of the car and high fenders create a unified front, helping to greatly reduce wind resistance. In addition, the aerodynamically shaped front fairing, high-swept rear end and taillights that resemble the famous GSX motorcycle model are some of the “expensive” details of the Suzuki Axelo.

Along with that, there are still details that are not really eye-catching: the watch face, saddle, rearview mirror and rear fender have a quite simple design when placed on a sports clutch. There are also many mixed opinions about Axelo’s double rear shock absorbers. But in my opinion, we shouldn’t be too demanding because with a price of less than 30 million VND in Vietnam, the Axelo deserves to be the manual transmission car with the best value for money.

Suzuki Axelo has overall dimensions of 1,895 x 715 x 1,075 mm (Length x Width x Height), dry weight 108 kg. Telescopic front suspension system and double springs at the rear with disc brakes on both wheels. Axelo uses cast rims combined with front tires size 70/90-17M/C and rear tires 80/90-17M/C. At first glance, the tires seem a bit small compared to the wheel size, but through initial experiences, the tires provide very good grip for the car, especially in cornering situations.

Under the saddle, Axelo provides users with a large storage compartment, a 4.3L fuel tank and 2 helmet hangers.

Suzuki Axelo uses a 124cc gasoline engine, 4-stroke, 1-cylinder, SOHC, air-cooled, producing a maximum capacity of 7.06kW at 8,000 rpm and maximum torque of 9.9Nm at 6,000 rpm. The car uses a 4-speed gearbox.

Initially, looking at the engine parameters that Suzuki provided, I hastily assumed that the Axelo was nothing special compared to the cars I had experienced. But when I started driving, the view of the car was completely different from before. Because the numbers of capacity, capacity and torque do not say everything a car brings.

Put it in 1st gear and start moving, Axelo really surprised me with its impressive acceleration ability. In gear 2, the car is still strong enough to speed up in crowded streets. In terms of regular use in the city, I find that just using levels 1,2,3 is enough. After the first kilometers, the thing that made me not really satisfied was the clutch, I had to open the clutch almost all the way before the car started moving. This can easily cause difficulties for people who are not used to it because they don’t dare to let go forcefully.

Starting on Nhat Tan bridge facing the motorbike lane of Thang Long – Noi Bai expressway, I had the opportunity to feel the maximum speed of the Suzuki Axelo. Reaching 80km/h quite quickly, I also intended to “full throttle” but due to traffic conditions not allowing it, I maintained at this speed. At high speed, the car is quite compact, the engine sound is quite smooth, the plastic parts and the front of the car do not shake at all, creating a feeling of extreme peace of mind. The sound of the exhaust is not too loud but is enough to make the driver excited.

As mentioned in the design section, the Suzuki Axelo’s braking system provides very good braking performance and high safety. Even when using only 1 front brake, I can still control the car in emergency braking situations.

Reaching the winding mountain pass from the foot of the mountain to the top of Tam Dao, the “steed” Axelo continued to have the opportunity to show off his abilities. Driving mainly in numbers 2 and 3, the car never “drowns” on steep slopes even when there is someone sitting in the back. Even though I only use 70/90 front tires and 80/90 rear tires (like the Suzuki Raider), every time I need to take a corner, I never feel like I’m slipping due to losing grip.

After the journey Hanoi – Dai Lai – Tam Dao – Hanoi with a total distance of nearly 200km, it can be said that Suzuki Axelo is a manual clutch that can meet many different travel requirements from crowded streets to high roads. speed even on mountainous terrain. With a price of 26.8 million VND, it’s hard to find anything that can satisfy more than that.

Until now, I still don’t understand why many people compare Axelo to Yamaha’s Exciter. Because, Suzuki Axelo 125 is aimed at a completely different segment. And more broadly, when producing a car, each brand has its own qualities and targets different customers, not to be compared with other brands.
